Syracuse Bullies? What a load.

Stupid name. Even without the extraordinarilly bad connotations of schoolyard abuse.

But the logo?

Who in thier right mind would buy merchandise with that color scheme?
It looks great on a McDonald's employee though.

It seems to me that someone is just not thinking, and judging by it, not investing in design or marketing either.

I think Fanhouse has it right.

I still love New York, you just need to take care of yourself a little.

It seems our state is lookin for an "aggressive agency" to revitalize the campaign.
The "I Love New York" tourism campaign was introduced by Wells Rich Greene, the first of 11 ad agencies to keep the campaign going.

The campaign has etched the "I Love New York" jingle in New Yorkers' memory, while graphics guru Milton Glaser's innovative use of a heart shape in the "INY" logo often has been copied since its debut.

Glaser said years later he thought his logo would fade away after a few months, but instead the image - trademarked and licensed for use by the state - has become a fixture of posters and T-shirts.

After 9/11, "I Love New York" was the rallying cry in a special TV commercial - featuring then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani, then-Gov. George Pataki and hometown favorites such as Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter - aimed at calming tourist fears. Glaser-designed "I NY More Than Ever" posters carried in the Daily News appeared in windows around the city.

Empire State said it will pick an "aggressive" ad agency "to market New York State as a premier year-round, multiseasonal destination" under a three-year contract to take effect in late April.

Eric Mower and Associates, which has a contract that expires next month, plans to submit a new proposal.

thats what the article says anyway.

One Rat Short

My brother Steve works as a a computer animator at a company called Charlex. The company does a lot of commercials and its founders are famous for the "You Might Think" video, by the Cars. Its the one where Rik Ocasek turns into a fly at the end. Well, I remember it anyway.
One of the founders (Alex Weil) has a project called One Rat Short, a short film about a street rat and a lab rat who fall in love. It is doing well at the film festivals and is currently at Sundance. and being featured at the Academy Awards
shorts screening this weeekend.

Steve does somthing called rigging, which is like making the bones of the digital puppet, on the film and I know that it has been a lot of what he has been doing fo the last 2 years. I hope it does well.

take a look at it here

http://css.pedigree.grey.net/dogadoption/donate.asp

Here is an example of a campaign that is going beyond doing great creative. Its doing great things.
I don't even own a dog, but maybe I should. And when I do get one, guess whos dogfood I am going to buy.
Simple and smart.
